Maize Production

With no other option, maize in Iganga is like other districts in Busoga region is ranked first as a non traditional cash crop and also for food. Iganga district has very high potentials for maize production given the very favorable climate and rich soils. Currently BSLA is involved in small scale cereal crop production mainly maize for food security and income generation. This has enabled us to create cohesive interest groups among the farming community. BSLA intends to embark on strengthening the capacities of our members in maize production for commercial purposes in order to tap the existing local marketing opportunities like schools, Local proccessors and buyers from Kenya who frequent the area.
