Invisible Children’s Frontline Tour

This fall, our friend and partner, Invisible Children, has sent 16 teams across the country as part of the Frontline Tour. These teams of roadies – comprised of Americans and Ugandans – are engaging Americans from coast to coast in The Protection Plan, Invisible Children’s multi-pronged effort to help stop LRA violence. Permanently. This tour is on track to reach 500,000 people and tell them about the LRA’s threat to families and children in central Africa.
Get to a screening if you can, see IC’s documentary Tony, meet other people who care about seeing an end to the LRA, and soak in the larger picture.
The LRA Crisis Tracker, co-created by Resolve and Invisible Children,  is also featured on the Frontline Tour and plays a large role in The Protection Plan, particularly parts 1 and 5:
1) Protection of Communities. This includes using Invisible Children’s Early Warning Radio Network and the LRA Crisis Tracker to record LRA sightings and attacks. With this information, plans can be implemented to protect civilians.
2) Encouraging LRA Defection. FM radios broadcast encouragement to LRA, telling them that if they defect, they will be given amnesty and welcomed home. Leaflets are also dropped from planes to communicate that message.
3) Providing Rehabilitation and Family Reunification. IC is working with local communities to build an intensive rehabilitation center in Dungu.
4) Post-Conflict Recovery. IC continues to rebuild and support schools in northern Uganda.
5) Promoting the Arrest of Joseph Kony and Top LRA Leadership. This means advocacy here in the U.S. and support of the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Joseph Kony. Again, the LRA Crisis Tracker plays an important role in providing evidence of the LRA threat to decision makers and providing intelligence to those with the means to arrest Kony.
This tour the roadies are encouraging people to start personal fundraising pages. All of that money will go towards implementing The Protection Plan. Each fundraising page scrolls updates from the Crisis Tracker— a reminder of the urgency of this conflict. Currently, over 32,000 people have created personal fundraising pages.
Our partners at Invisible Children continue to inspire us by breaking new ground with innovations like the Protection Plan and the LRA Crisis Tracker even while they reach vast numbers of people (half a million this tour!).
Keep up the good work, IC!
