the parameters of a moment

So yesterday morning, being done with my freelance work for the week (or at least, close enough to being done to warrant reflexive permission to consider myself done), I was listening to Paul Simon and watching peaceable clouds drifting across an african sky; this was pleasant enough for about an hour, and when I got up to see what the clouds were looking down on I spotted a woman swinging a keychain around a finger like a hula hoop.My mind began to race. What was the relationship between the diameter of the spinning hoop, the weight of the substance, and the force applied as they determine, at least in part, the speed of the spin? What about the diameter and shape of the thing upon which the hoop swings -- surely that has some relevance in a comprehensive mathematical representation of the swinging keychain act?It became too much for me. The questions began multiplying and demanding independence from the mental palanquin crutch that prevented their feet from getting dirty in the mud of arithmetic. I let them go.
