Ruth with kids in Kaabong The trip to Karamoja was an answer to my deep wishes of discovering the place where the Karamojong children are from and why they run away from their homes. I wanted to know their roots and share the gospel with the people of Karamoja. Ruth is a young lady of 20 years old and a student at Makerere University in Arts/Psychology. She has a heart for children, she loves them and she is involved in Calvary Chapel Children’s Ministry and at the same time in the Frontline ministry that focuses on less privileged children, and helps them to allow God to change their lives. The team in which Ruth was mainly stayed in Kaabong district, but before reaching Kaabong they passed through Abim and Kotido. On our route: ABIM-KOTIDO-KAABONG Before leaving Kampala, we were told that the place and the people are dangerous; mind what you say, wear, the way you behave, says Ruth. I am from the West of Uganda where the landscape has highlands, it is hilly and green.
Karamoja: A Place to Go posted on August 12, 2009 - 8:27am
Carlos OLAAKA  Children of Karamoja In my nature, I like challenges and I am a bit adventurous. At church, different mission trips have been organized to Kabale, Luwero Island (Mukono District), Kasese…but I did not join. When it came to Karamoja, I said:” This is the place where I have to go.” When he left Kampala, Carlos (29 years old) , Systems Engineer and Tour Operator by profession, had on his mind to take the gospel to the people in Karamoja. He had heard about Karamoja before, but being there in real, seeing the extreme poverty challenged him: people have no food, have few clothes (1 or 2) … hence as it is said in Mathew 6: 25 –26, “…not to worry about what to eat, drink, wear…the birds in the air do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, yet our heavenly Father feeds them.
KARAMOJA: My Bitter Sweet Experience, Lillian NALUBIRI posted on August 12, 2009 - 8:16am
19 years old Lillian NALUBIRI is in her Senior 6 vacations preparing to join Kyambogo University soon. She has a passion for less privileged people. At Calvary Chapel, she is involved in Frontline Ministry that creates an environment that allows a Godly change in the lives of children at risk, through activities such as Bible Study, Sports and Income Generating activities. Karamoja: Sour & Sweet Experience! Lillian’s team mainly stayed in ABIM for a week, mostly populated by the Luos (Luo tribe). For her, the whole experience was at the same time bitter and sweet. Bitter, because the environment is very challenging, the heat is too much & you live under harsh conditions. I had to trust God for everything, says Lillian. Wherever we went, the cry of their heart was: “Pray for us, we need rain.” Sweet, because she discovered new people, who were warm, she got involved in their lives and contributed to their decision making.
From Pakistan to Kampala posted on August 12, 2009 - 8:07am
Nadeem MASSEY is a Christian leader from Pakistan, where 98% of the population is Muslim. Born catholic, he joined the seminary because he wanted to become a priest. God through His ways reached out to him and saved him. Now, with his wife, they are serving the Lord in Pakistanese villages.   From right: Nadeem MASSEY & Pastor Brian KELLY from Calvary Chapel Kampala     Like some of the ministers, Nadeem struggled with God before obeying His calling: reaching out people in the village. He had a nice career in Lahore (one of the Pakistan big city), working with a telecommunication company and his wife had also a good job. End of 2005, an earthquake hit Pakistan, and a friend of Nadeem called and said: “many people are dying out there without knowing God. If you really have a heart for people, God will lead you through, He will respond to your need.” Questions were flowing in their minds: it is true but how can we leave this comfort and go to the village where we have nothing?
Isaac Wootton: Seeds Planted posted on August 3, 2009 - 1:55pm
On the way to Karamoja    “I was sure that the seeds I and the others had planted were going to be watered and grow” Prologue What follows are excerpts from my diary written in the field during a nine day missionary journey into the remote north eastern district of Karamoja, Uganda. Some comments have been added after-the-fact to clarify or elaborate as fitting. Isaac Wootton 18th June 2009 I am now in Karamoja. The moment I stepped off the bus, into the hot dry heat of a late afternoon, my body dripping with sweat, head still dazed by the bright and intense sun I became fully convinced. I spread my arms to the heavens, and stepped up onto my tippy toes to stretch out my body wore out from the seemingly endless bumpy ride. I took in a deep breath, just in time to catch the last of the dust cloud that had followed our bus and enveloped our camp. I was excited, but anxious at the same time – what ministries would we be involved in? How was God going to move?
Pastor Mohan PANIYUR Greetings to the entire CCK Family! You have been very supportive in your prayers and giving (physically & monetarily) towards all the missions ventures we have undertaken and we want to praise and thank Him for the heart of generosity He has s instilled in you. It’s been a mission’s coaster ride since June 2008, when we had our first mission trip to Luwero Island (For Men Only), to Gulu in November 2008, to Kabale in January 2009, to Kasese in April 2009 and quite recently in June 2009 to Karamoja. Mission in Abim, Kotido, & Kaabong The outreach to Karamoja was unique as we partnered with Life Ministry Uganda for the first time. We had the largest contingent of 26 team members along with Calvary Chapel Fort Portal, and were able to split into three small teams, and minister in Abim, Kotido and Kaabong from June 18 – 25, 2009.

I'll stand with arms high and heart abandoned... We had a great couple of weeks with worship pastor Ray White. He led worship both weeks for the three sunday morning services, and had a great “Glow” night last Wednesday night. Thanks Ray for your help and hard work! Oh, in addition to leading worship Ray helped us re-carpet the stage and add a drum booth. Pastor Ray is from Calvary Chapel Sarasota http://www.calvarychapelsarasota.com
