Planet Calypso - Mining Trip #1 posted on October 27, 2010 - 3:28pm

I went on my first Mining Trip last night. Not a big one, I only had 12 probes. It was with moderate success in the sense that I actually got 3 deposits (2 x Tiny(II) + 1 x Very Poor(III)) just north of Port Atlantis. All in all I extracted 240 barrels of Crude Oil which does not cover the expenses but at least I got something.I recorded the position of each deposit and I am pondering whether to publicise the coordinates to the general public, as all mining guides I have seen have been missing some hard facts about positions. I will make an update to this post if I decide to publicise the positions. Now I am without probes and broke. If I sell the Crude Oil at the Trade Terminal that will give me 2.40 PED - almost enough for another 5 probes. I could get lucky and get one big deposit but I think that is unlikely. So it is back to sweating in order to get some additional funds.

Planet Calypso - First time back with a new computer! posted on October 27, 2010 - 1:05am

Once upon a time ....   well sometime back in 2007 - I registered an account in the MMORPG called Entropia Universe, which is now called Planet Calypso. I played a bit for a little while but never went far. Then for different reasons I have not really been logging in and thus I got a warning not too long ago that it was now more than 300 days since I had logged in and if I did not log in within 450 days from my last login my account with all items would be closed and deleted. So I thought, maybe it is time have a look at it again. Unfortunately (for me) in my absess the developers (Mind Ark AB) had changed the 3D Engine used to CryEngine2. The requirements for this 3D Engine was too hefty for my old Acer TravelMate 2490 (onboard Intel Graphics, 1.5 GB Ram and a single core Celeron Processor).

Spam, Spam, Spam .... posted on April 20, 2010 - 1:00pm

I just noticed that I have neglected to look through my spam folder on GMail. 545 messages marked as spam by Gmail in month. That is close to 20 spam mails a day! I know that I may have part in receiving them myself but still....In the past I have pruned the spam folder from time to time, just checking that no important messages went lost in there and deleted the rest but today I think I will go through mayb 100 mails or so and unsubscribe them if possible. Maybe that will leave me with a smaller spam folder in a months time? I hope so but am not holding my breath!

Amazing Love! posted on November 27, 2009 - 4:21pm

"Blessed be your name In the land that is plentiful Where the streams of abundance flow Blessed be your name Blessed be your name When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness Blessed be your name" Amazingly how we can be in both of these places at the same time. Even though life is hard and we struggle through our lives, both the daily worldly domain as well as the spiritual domain, every moment we decide to spend in the presence of God as his child, there is an abundant stream of love flowing from his throne!

Down-sizing? posted on June 11, 2009 - 5:35pm

I know that we are in a recession and a lot of companies are downsizing, cost cutting and adjusting their product portfolio. But perhaps this is a step too far, British Airways? WinkPhoto taken June 11th, 2009 on the Jinja-Kampala Highway in Mabira Forest, Uganda

Human Sacrifice is on the rise posted on May 13, 2009 - 9:34am

Human sacrifice is on an alarming increase. Children are abducted and killed because of the lust or want for money, success and fame.We as parents try our best to protect our children. We do not entrust them to anybody without making sure (as well as we can) that they will not harm them.We take precautions that we normally would not have allowed. Girls get their ears pierced before they are 9 weeks old. Boys get circumcised as babies. Why? To make them unsuitable for ritual rites and sacrifices. But God wants us and our children to be free. HIS Son was sacrificed so that the only sacrifice we have to bring is to give Him our hearts and our will.In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless each and everyone of our children. I call upon the power of God to save our children.

A better world? posted on April 30, 2009 - 1:19pm

"We are a Nation of Thieves and Lying is the Common Language"- I heard this quote not long ago. And it is true, sad to say. For some contries it is more true and more prevalent than others but basically it is true for any and all nations that I know of.You might say, that your in your nation, thieving and lying is only done in small an insignificant ways. In "The Parable of the Talents" (Matt 25:14-30) it says in verses 21 and 23 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'". So if you are stealing and lying in small things, wouldn't you be the unfaithful servant?

Public Transport – Kampala Style! Part Two posted on February 5, 2009 - 8:41am

This is the second part of a three part series I am writing on Public Transport in Kampala, Uganda. In part one I talked about Taxis. In this part we will cover Boda-Bodas.Originally a Boda-Boda was a bicycle operating between borders across the often wide no-mans-land at the African border crossings. They ferried passengers and their belongings from one border post to the other; border-to-border hence boda boda. Now a days they operate all over the city of Kampala going anywhere and everywhere in the city. The original bicycle Bodas are still here but have been joined by small motorcycles. As they can weave their way through traffic they are often the fastest way from A to B. This comes at a price though. Generally it is more expensive to go by boda. It is also more dangerous.
