Be Afraid; the Movement is on its way down!! posted on September 30, 2008 - 6:34pm

Ladies and gentlemen, first let me make it clear. I have never been an advocate for chaos. I don’t entirely agree with the Cavarian principle that revolutions only succeed after being watered by the blood of their patriots. I do not believe in anarchy. But behold, for this is what Uganda may be headed to. The squabbles going on among the government top brass can not be treated lightly. We have a potential explosive situation in our midst and if not resolved well (and I fear it won’t), tough times await us.So, what is this fear gnawing at me? Look, the entire ruling NRM party is now fractured. And it is not a mere ideological contest or civilized disagreement. It is a native clash and in African terms, such clashes usually turn bloody. The party secretary general is accused of breaking procurement rules as he sells his land to a national workers savings fund. Before we know it, his political foes (ironically from his party) have launched a full-scale war against him.

IF WE HAD A MBEKI,WAHT WOULD BESIGYE BE? posted on September 30, 2008 - 1:06pm
If we had a Mbeki, what would Besigye be?The legal showdown between former South African President Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki and ANC President Jacob Zuma rattled the political establishment in Pretoria leading to last week’s resignation of Mr Mbeki. It was a turning point in African politics with a president of a major industrial country calling it quits for alleged ‘persecution’ of his political rivals. Mbeki’s decision to resign followed a stunning court ruling by Judge Chris Nicholson in which he noted with disconcert that Mbeki and his then justice minister, Penuell Maduna had interfered with the independence of the national prosecuting authority to prefer politically instigated corruption charges against Mr Zuma. Justice Nicholson’s ruling included biting criticism of prosecutors and political leaders all the way up to President Mbeki, saying there was reason to believe the decision to charge Zuma was politically motivated.

I did Rock Night at Effendy’s Saturday night…not jumping for joy but cautious, I have attended it once, maybe next Saturday will be better, hey I am optimistic, at least the DJ had the decency to play Viva la Vida but…it could go south. Didn’t get the part though when he kept on throwing in 80’s Euro-pop. You know what Kobayahi, I have a sneaky suspicion that it it ain’t really a Rock Night, just one where they play alternative. Carlo,I guess you have your claim to fame, I could ignore antipop referring to me as the blonde on her radio, but a gal can only take so many hits!!

I look at this room, the littered surfaces, the overflowing bookshelf, the bare tabletops, the fridge squatting apologetic and inappropriate in the corner and the vast empty swathe of floor under the bright naked lightbulb and I realise that this is not a place to live in. This is a place to light a desk lamp and work in. This is a place to adjust a tie, gulp down a coffee and go to work from. This is a place to pass through. This is not a place to live in.

I'm sure you will agree with me that what started as a land transaction between the National Social Security Fund and the security minister Amama Mbabazi and his associate Amos Nzeyi has morphed into an octopus with too many arms to keep up with.If the powers that be wanted me completely baffled they have done a commendable job. it seems that the stage has been set with some superb actors and some terribly lame ones. I can't get my head around the cast but I wish someone would explain to me the plot.

Trust me... tis a world altering experience when people do not understand what you are going on about... kinda like you expected them to use their fingers on the papers and it would automatically link to whatever online source you are quoting. If you do not understand any of what I am saying, I am glad to report that you are not in the portion of bloggers affected by over blogging. That is a very good thing... you are still "normal".

This is one of the greatest quotes to ever emerge from the annals of criminal court history....right here in our backyard!!! Who said these words?? “We submit that this whole case is and was a fabrication from beginning to end, calculated to embarrass KB. This sad case was born in the deluded mind of Ms JK, it was nurtured and developed in SH. It was cooked to imperfection in the DIC of the UP. It was presented into full inadequacy by the DepDPP. Now it’s courts time to dismiss it.”

Last night, I did upgrade a notch…annoyance. For the past year every time I attend this “Rock Night”, I can literally predict the play list and in almost perfect order to! What’s with the DJs being stuck in “High school rock” from 1993-1999, rarely venturing into the present and almost never into the the 70s and 80s?! Mbu Rock night! I am almost convinced the DJ got all his music from the Rick Dees Show( Before he descended into Hip Hop madness…that’s another story!).

One is A-Klass, an Awareness, Ability, Achievement and Abstinence campaign specifially for high schoolers (secondary school). The other is Campus Craze, a fun centered interactive series of events tailored for Universities around the country.
I love these two pieces, mostly because of the creative leeway I was given. Like I told the guy who recommended me for the job, “It’s good to find a client who lets you give your very best and is still willing to pay you what you believe your pains are worth.”
Hope you like them as much as I do!

Then I’m going to clean my room, and file all the loose papers that are heaped on my desk. Then I’m going to clean my wardrobe and line it and everything. I need to wash my sneakers. But I am not just going to work on empathising with the helper. I’m also going to start studying for the my intro to organizational psych test so it isn’t as much of a surprise as the first one was.

But today when I read it I almost cried. Earlier in the week I got a phone call  from a friend that I had totally lost all contact with and even though I was thrilled to  have heard from him, my heart ached. Funny how emotions are.  Or maybe it is funny how seasons are... I have this theory that people are  put into your life to be either eternal friends or seasonal.

WHY YOU NEED TO READ THE BOOK OF GENESIS AGAIN posted on September 24, 2008 - 7:52am

I am more convinced than ever before that in order to unlock some of the mysteries in the bible, you have to read the book of GENESIS again. Here is one of the many reasons.GENESIS is the word that gives birth to the word GENE from which we get the word GENEALOGY and science agrees that this is the FABRIC of humanity.Humanity needs not fear the devil and this we can see from our genealogy. In genesis, we see that the devil and his schemes are meant to be as far away from us as possible. The devil was declared a vagabond and illegal to take habitation in our lives, here is the proof.MATHEW 6:9-13 is the lords’ prayer. Emphasis on verse 10.

Keeping energized during a workshop posted on September 23, 2008 - 6:38pm
Today has been one of those workshop days where I felt like all my energy has been drained out of me. One thing that I always try to fight especially when I’m facilitating a workshop or even just being a participant is losing energy or feeling burn out at the end of the day. It takes alot of energy to talk to participants more-so if they are some hands-on sessions to be done. Even when you think participants have an idea of what you are telling them to do, it turns out that alot of talking on how to about things has to be.  So, how do you beat that and maintain your energy without necessarily burning out? Here are some tips on how to keep energized through out a workshop or conference I would like to share that have worked for me. Leave your worries/problems the moment you walk into the workshop room.
THERE IS URGENT NEED TO REVIEW THE NSSF ACT posted on September 23, 2008 - 6:34pm
There is urgent need to review the NSSF ActOne of the issues the Parliament’s committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises investigating alleged political meddling in the management of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will have to address, is that relating to the legal application of a power of attorney. A power of attorney is basically a legal contractual instrument created between the donor (person who gives the power of attorney) and donee ( the person to whom the power is given) for purposes of contracting/dealing with third parties. Courts of law have developed principles that govern the operation of a power of attorney. One such principle is to the effect that an attorney acts on behalf and in the name of the donor. This means that the donor has imputed notice of all the information that the attorney has.

Rain in Kampala posted on September 21, 2008 - 11:56am

[I wrote this yesterday. Today, Sunday, it is a very beautiful sunny morning. Though, as I speak, there is a hint of water in the air. Soon, it might rain. Just wanted to share this with you out there! Its raining.A warm, slow rain. Was raining when I woke up. My lovers warm body was too tempting. Too tempting by half. So, set off almost late for the morning. It was a drizzle then, but once out, I could see the dark thunderclouds to the east and I knew it was going to rain. Just prayed I would be able to get to work before the heavens opened up.And they have, when I was already at work.Rain over Kampala. The sun is a favorite season, with the heat, and the brightness, and the sheer sense of light all around. But the rain is also a favorite season. True, the roads become ribbons of red mud, and we have to pick and choose where we step. The light is lost, and the overcast is usually heavy. But, usually, it does not last that much, which is a fantastic thing.

city of mud posted on September 20, 2008 - 8:56pm
The Rainy-Muddy KampalaIt is a rainy session in Kampala and the surroundings. As I went to shop for my child who is returning to school, it rained as we were thick in downtown Kampala. The population was thick, and space was limited. Everyone, including the street sellers rushed to get themselves a dry spot. The trouble was when it finished raining. In Kampala, when it is raining, even the car owners take cover in houses. It is after the rain that everyone who has been seeking refuge in the house jumps into the car. The result is obvious; dense traffic. The drainage system on the roads of Kampala is as perfect as that of a swamp. The running-water and its entire luggage, man-made lake on the streets, and the muddy heaps suffering from the zillion trumping by the pedestrians all give a new cover to the roads. The only relief is that the air is cleared of the smoky and eye-irritating fumes for a few hours.
