LRA top official seeks amnesty posted on July 31, 2008 - 4:36pm

Wednesday, 30th July, 2008 By Fortunate Ahimbisibwe JAMES Obita, the former leader of the LRA delegation to the Juba peace talks, has applied for amnesty with the Uganda Amnesty Commission. Obita, who was sacked as head of delegation by LRA leader Joseph Kony last month, confirmed that his amnesty application had been accepted. “I have been told go to the Amnesty Commission and receive a certificate. I am so happy to be back home as a citizen,” he told The New Vision on phone yesterday. His decision, he explained, was to demonstrate goodwill on the part of LRA members who were still in Garamba. “This is not betrayal to the LRA. I still support the LRA and I will encourage them to sign the peace agreement and others to seek amnesty.” The move, he hoped, would convince others who were still in the bush. “My decision will re-assure the LRA that amnesty is real and anyone can benefit,” Obita said.

I once encountered a “boy” whose email addresses were thickwhoop@yahoo.com and bobthicka at something dot com (yeah , I know, go ahead and spam him nonstop). I couldn’t believe someone would brag so openly like that. I was disgusted. He kept on inundating my inbox with mail. Then I learnt about all the navigations and blocked him. I know I made a mistake of giving him my address.
It got me wondering what thought goes into setting up an email address. I mean, if this man could have thickwhoop or bobthicka as his username or (whatever they call that bit) then there is no telling what else he brags about. This one is likely to brag about knocking u and how good (or bad) it was. He’s also likely to tell (lie) everyone abou tthe fact that he gives you the most intense orgasms that make you spasm on after the climax for about 1 hour.

The reader stated thus: “You do not deserve to be blamed. You are a victim of a well-organised and well-coordinated campaign against Islam and the Islamic way of life (including governance) worldwide. This campaign is conducted on all fronts including, but not limited to, mass media propaganda, military invasions, economic sanctions and legal battles. But you also deserve the blame because despite your education background, you have accepted wittingly or unwittingly to be manipulated and used by global anti-Islamic elements.”

Hello everyone. I thought a few updates were appropriate as of now. Our web site has added a new link, to Oxfam-Australia's "Refugee Realities: Your Rights in Crisis". This site has first hand accounts from IDP camp dwellers on the conditions of their day to day existence in these hopeless places. We hope that viewing them will help all to better understand what we are trying to do here at BOSCO.There are, for example, interviews with two young men named "Law" and "Royal Lion" from the Pabbo IDP site. Please visit and take a look!On another front. As you know, we have been planning a medium sized expansion into Kitgum, and to the Lacor hospital among others, of the BOSCO network. To this end, we have sent two new advanced long-range Wi-Fi devices to Gulu for testing by the team, in preparation for what we hope will be a successful deployment this September.

There are times I just want to shake her and tell her she deserves way more than what he is giving her.You might think I am being a bit too rash. Let me break it down. Tell you what this chap did. A grumpy kingdomJul 24th 2008 KAMPALAFrom The Economist print edition ONE feature of Uganda is the persistence of its five Bantu kingships. They have no formal political power but centuries of powerful tradition behind them. Foremost among them, or so its subjects crow, is the kingdom of Buganda, from which the modern state of Uganda takes its name and whose people, the Baganda, were once the most numerous and powerful. For many years, however, they have felt unfairly treated—and are becoming ever-more-hostile to the 22-year-old regime of President Yoweri Museveni.

It is now clear that the warring political factions in Zimbabwe will in the coming weeks form a government of national unity, comprising members of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU/PF party and the opposition Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC party. To common Zimbabweans, whom peace and order had become elusive in the past months, this should come as a relief. They expect the country to become stable and probably the inclusion of the West’s blue-eyed boy Tsvangirai into the government will help resuscitate their ailing economy.

Namulonge is a private course 32 km from Kampala. It's in fantastic shape (except for the greens, which are UG standard shaggy). The layout is set in the midst of the National Agricultural Crops Research Institute, 12km from Gyaza. M.L. Simkins was a USAID spouse, living on the grounds and she was the driving force behind either it's rejuvenation or building, depending on who you ask. I had always heard it was built in colonial times, but my caddie told me that Mrs. Simkins did it.

To call this place a golf course is extremely generous, although once it was a colonial course, it now has 9 "holes". Where once stood a clubhouse, complete with swimming pool, there is now trees in the pool and remnants of a foundation. Apparently the club was a victim of a battle between the Obote and Okello forces, as it is adjacent to the barracks. (click on pictures for larger image)

I know, we are all looking for some one who thinks we are wonderful and trust me, a chat room is the perfect place to find someone who thinks you are wonderful. In cyberspace everyone is perfect. I will gladly settle for Lionel Richie, Freddie Jackson and all those donkey ears tunes. When a friend gave me an Ipod shuttle, I thought it was pretty cool, but it took me forever to get some music on it and then someone stole it. But I didn’t fright, I felt life could go on, since finding time to plug it into my ears was quite an issue anyway(Yeah! I am for real). I listen to what is on radio/TV ETC, but would survive with out music despite my love for dancing.

I am getting a head of myself. I need to go through chat room etiquette so you can fully understand what I went through and help those of you who intend to venture into a chat room as a result of this post. First. It is completely advisable to decide if you are going to be honest with the people you meet in the room or not. It is not some mandatory class room where you will be flayed if you with hold some information or create some information. In fact more than 90% of what you are told is probably a lie. Second. Choose a name that reflects who you want to be seen as. If you want us to think you are an innocent, “virgin” might not be the best name to go with, for obvious reasons.

Uganda is one of the countries that has had a long history of conflict. Conflict has been part and parcel of the lives of many youth in Uganda. Since my child hood, there has been conflict occurring in different parts of the country at any one time. I want to address in this article a fundamental issue that is a root cause of conflict in Uganda but is often un addressed and not discussed. When discussing the root causes of conflict in Uganda, it is easy to trace it to the colonial legacies, ethnicity and tribalism that has affected national cohesion as well as the materialistic tendencies of leaders that have so far been in power. Domestic violence or conflict is however often not mentioned in such debates.

O.B. is a danger on many holes as well. The first 2 holes are wide open, but the next 7 are set in a spectacular, undulating, plantation of trees. The facilities are the nicest feature of this club, gym, perfectly clean swimming pool, huge verandah, BBQ pit, bar, pool table, darts, bar, tennis courts, poolside bandas, etc.

ICC will find easy evidence against BashirAnother precedent was last week set in the international criminal justice system when a sitting president, Omar el-Bashir of Sudan and one of the worst military dictators on the African continent, was indicted by the International Criminal Court to answer charges of crimes against humanity. The ICC indictments have been politicised, radicalised in a religious sense and even scorned at by renowned scholars in the field of humanities as being lopsided. This column will not engage in these side arguments. Instead , let’s examine the fundamentals; the merits of the evidence provided to prove a prima facie case (that on the balance of probability there are criminal legal issues that the court should determine) and therefore Bashir has to be put on his defence.

But many of their own professors are graduates of the school at which they now teach. Before you consider that fact on your own, dear reader, consider this: what if they're wrong about everything and nobody knows because there's ne plus ultra authority? Ok, that's unlikely. But in the interest of creating a new pool of qualified professors for the most incontinence-inducingly impressive law schools, I propose: famous actors!
